About The Event

Are you looking to better understand the art of traditional hide tanning and how to save the hide of an animal?

Each fall as hunting season ensues, it is the time to flesh and salt hides. This must be done within a few days of harvesting the animal. Once accomplished, you will be able to preserve the hide for the winter and then get to the hide tanning process the following spring.

Join us for this workshop to learn the process of fleshing a preparing a hide for winter preservation.

We hope to provide some deer hides for this class, but students are encouraged to bring their own hide.

Materials fee: $5 for the salt (to be paid directly to instructor upon arrival to class)
