Hill Hike Bitterroot

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or new to the trails, this event welcomes women+ of all fitness levels. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature, meet new friends, and boost your physical and mental well-being. (no one will be left behind). Join your hosts Venery and Montana Girl Gang to wallow in the shade and coolness of the Bear Creek Trail to Bear Creek Falls. 

Due to the extreme heat (96°f) forecast on Tuesday we changed the location of our hike. Rather than take the steep climb to the Bear Creek Overlook, we will be wallowing in the shade and coolness of the Bear Creek Trail to Bear Creek Falls. The easy, well defined path lies, nestled between the forest and the creek, making a gradual ascent. The trail leads past pools in the smooth rock to Bear Creek Falls, which forms whirlpools, cascades, and water slides over a series of boulders.  (new Parking Area directions below)

HILL HIKE: Bear Creek Trail to Bear Creek Falls  (3 miles round trip, 400 ft elev gain)

We're looking forward to seeing you on July 9. We'll meet at the trailhead at 5:30pm and depart at 5:45 pm. Parking is limited, carpooling is encouraged and well behaved dogs are welcome. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water and bear spray.

Finding the TRAIL HEAD:  Bear Creek Trail to Bear Creek Falls

from Missoula, drive, 35 miles south on Highway 93 to Bear Creek Road on the right. Turn right and continue to 2.3 miles to Red Crow Road. Turn right and drive 0.7 miles to a road junction. Turn left and continue straight for 3.1 miles to the bear creek trailhead parking area.

From Hamilton, drove 8.5 miles north to Highway 93 to Bear Creek Road on the left. Continue with the directions above.
